Today, Prenzlauer Berg is one of Berlin's most prestigious neighbourhoods. But in the GDR era, it was a crumbling working-class district. Behind its grey facades, an underground art scene formed, forbidden music played, and ideas were born that paved the way to a peaceful revolution and the fall of the Wall. On this route, we’ll see how people felt in August 1961 when the Wall went up, and what it was like to live in a divided city.
